Misconstrued
My passion for believers often causes me to call out the obvious and ask the tough questions of Christ's church. In doing so, I could easily be misconstrued by a misunderstanding individual and accused of being hypocritical. I mean it would seem, after all, that I'm defying my own exhortations to those who dwell on the negative, right? Especially after I so staunchly emphasize the importance of keeping out thoughts positively centered on Christ and His kingdom.
Hopefully, that was not the case last week, as my April 16th blog was simply a call for believers to begin re-evaluating what we're doing and why. It was by no means a criticism of individuals but an attempt to rally the truly passionate truth-seekers among the brotherhood of believers. There, I've made my disclaimer.
But, speaking of the word, "misconstrued," ... isn't it amazing what people will try to get away with and please innocence over, simply by claiming they are "misconstrued?" Take for instance, this web page, which seeks to identify the wicca, satanism, and voodoo cults as simply "misunderstood." Wow. I mean, is it even possible to TRY to go there? (Note: Check out the "cute" little anime witch at the top of the page...nothing like a little tug on people's heart-strings, right?)
1 John 4:6 (NIV)
We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
May God provide wisdom and discernment to help us detect blatant lies, and may we be careful to test everything we hear from the mouths of men.
Grace and peace,
