Radical Obedience
So, I mentioned this book, "Radical," a few weeks back, and now I'm seriously ready to start reading the thing. David Platt, the author, is hitting on the topic of radical obedience, specifically citing the words of Christ to the rich man about selling all of his possessions and giving them to the poor. It's quite a calling that Platt is laying on the modern-day Christian.
Of course, the question is, "how many of us would actually follow through with it, if we felt God calling us to give everything away to provide for the needs of the poor in our community?" I am compelled by this request and seeking God's direction on what I can give up for His kingdom! How about you? Or are you just worshiping yourself? (ouch, that's such a painful question to ask and answer!)
