Chronicles of Love, Part VIII

"...IT IS NOT EASILY ANGERED,
IT KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS..."Memory Card

I love Facebook...there are so many people I've lost touch with that I've wondered about over the years.  Amazingly, there are pictures that get posted to Facebook that bring back feelings I haven't experienced since I was a kid.  Some good feelings, some bad.  Isn't it amazing what a photograph can do to our presence of mind?

In today's technologically-driven society, we have multiple media methods for storing data, or "keeping memories," if you will.  A simple "SD" card or other memory card can be the key to unlocking emotion, passion, or other psychological connections, and we have within our grasp the ability to choose which of those memories we will archive and keep and which ones we will discard forever.

As Christians, we have internal SD cards.  We contain within each of our human brains the ability to store memories that will evoke responses.  Some of those memories may not be necessary to keep on our internal memory cards.  Some of them may be the very memories that keep us serving His kingdom.

Is your internal memory card holding details about another person's mistakes?  I know it's incredibly easy for me to keep a log in my mind of mistakes made by certain individuals, and it is a constant battle to keep that internal media clean.

But you know what?  It's those memories I should have let go that often cause me to be the most easily angered.  Because if I can let your past offenses go, I'm more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt, next time around, and control my temper.  What do you think?

still lovin' the way He loves me,

-Jeff

  2. So true! I decided the minute I started using Facebook to block ALL applications, regardless of how great people told me they were. It's great to see churches out there effectively using the new social networking technology to create and arrange "face to face" contact with lost people. It's incredible! Here's a great write-up about the responsibilities of technology within the church and maintaining the "personal touch"
